Day 6 Laugavegur Trail day 3

Our planned departure ran a little late and it was 7.30 by the time we hit the trail.  I again hitched my tent to the outside of my pack, this time, with the extra security of a carabiner hooked to the pack. Lesson learnt.

Today was mercifully flat, mostly walking through black volcanic sand valley surrounded by the most brilliant green mossy hills, and glaciers in the distance.
Another river crossing early on today, B had snapped a picture from the hut about where the best crossing point was.  This one was COLD and above knee height, so B was glad she took her pants off.  Don't worry, that's de rigeur here, we've seen plenty of men and women get their kit off.  Makes sense, horrible walking in wet pants.  I'm wearing leggings, which dry quickly, so I just roll up my rain pants.
It rained off and on during the day, but it wasn't windy, and we arrived at the hut around midday and set up our tents, just in time for the predicted midday rain. It didn't last long, and apart from a few brief showers since, it's been lovely and warm, so much so, that I even had a restorative nap in my tent.
I was hungry about 4pm so we went to the tent set up for campers and had roast beef with veges and mash.  Not too bad, and no, I didn't tip anything over, or set fire to anything.
There is big British tour group here, maybe 40 people, a breast cancer charity called Coppafeel.  They are loud and hilarious.  We managed to pitch our tents in the same area they are mostly congregated, but hey, we were here first. They have three big tents set up for meals etc and it seems to be some sort of guided hike where all the luggage arrives by 4WD and trailer.
There seems to be other groups as well, it's really busy here.
We did a stock take on current ailments, and weather forecast.  The weather is going to be crappy for the next few days on the Fimm trail.  Not only is it unpleasant hiking in the rain, you completely miss the scenery, if the cloud is low, as is predicted.  Belinda has twanged her knee and I have a large assortment of blisters on both feet, thanks wet socks, as well as the aforementioned manky toe.  We decided that we would complete the L trail tomorrow, abandon plans to continue on the Fimm trail at this point, and catch a bus back to the van.
We planned to leave at 7am in the hope of catching one of the afternoon buses from Porsmork.
